Brain-Leg Disconnection

Hi everyone! I hope that your weekend has been great 🙂

You may see a lot of things changing on my blog over the next week as I play around with it a bit. I haven’t really had the time to add more, so I’m hoping to get some changes completed by next weekend. I would love your feedback between now and then since this is new for me.

Breakfast

I had a planned 7 mile run in the books for today, so I started off my day with something light and nourishing. It seems that most other runners eat this, so I figured I couldn’t go wrong. I had a bagel thin with peanut butter and a banana.

Smile, you're on Lena's camera! hahaha

The run today was BRUTAL. I have no idea what it was, but I just was not feeling it, couldn’t coordinate my breathing, and my legs wouldn’t listen. I totally wanted to do this run and was so excited for it, but my body was just not having it! Sad day. I ended up having to take some walking breaks because I felt like I was going to keel over and die. Even the energy jelly beans did nothing for me. At least I got it done at the pace that my half marathon training plan suggested.

It was surprisingly hot today for the end of October (about 75), so I was craving a smoothie major time when I got home. It looks really ugly, but I promise that it’s delicious.

Chocolate Berry Protein Smoothie

– 1 cup almond milk
– half frozen banana
– 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
– 1 cup frozen berries of choice (I use cherries and blueberries)
– handful of spinach

Smoothie

Does not look very yummy.

After I finished off my smoothie, I took Mochi for a nice long walk. He likes stomping through crunchy leaves just as much as I do. I purposely go out of my way to step on a good, crispy one 😛

I was so stinking tired after my run that I did not get much else accomplished today besides doing a load of laundry (I’m sure my coworkers will appreciate the fact that I’m wearing clean clothes and underwear lol).

Dinner

Quynh had a Groupon for 9th Door in Denver, which is a tapas bar, so Nicole and I helped her spend up her coupon. I’ve never been there because I find that most Mediterranean restaurants pale in comparison to The Med in Boulder, which is my favorite restaurant from my undergrad days. The only superior alternative I’ve had was having tapas in Barcelona, Spain…obviously no comparison.

It was fairly decent. It was tasty enough to definitely go back, but I would rather go out of my way to hit up The Med. We shared a carafe of sangria as well as 7 tapas, including: lamp chops, meat and cheese platter, ribs, shrimp and avocado salad, and a few others. Overall, we were satisfied and just the right amount of full.

I’m running on zombie mode right now, and I’ve got to get up at 5:30am, so until next time! Good night!
