Give the Gift of…

Crabs!!! Wait, what? I went with Quynh to The Yabby Hut on Tuesday for some spicy, garlicy, buttery shellfish. I paid for it with sluggishness all day yesterday, but it was worth the artery-clogging goodness.

Anyway, after consuming mentioned shellfish, I walked into the ladies room to wash my hands and saw this awesome promo flier.

These people have GOT to hire someone else to come up with fliers because, wow, that makes you want to jump right up and buy some gift cards right? Yeah, I didn’t think so either. It made for a good laugh though.

While we’re on the topic of Tuesday, I was supposed to do my 3 mile planned run, but I was so lethargic from butter sauce that it just didn’t happen. I did however, finish it last night, which was a planned off day, so no big deal. This week is also lower on mileage as a “recovery” week before I really amp up my mileage these last 8 weeks before my half marathon!

Eats

I’ve got a lot of pumpkin leftover from the cookies I baked for the Cookie Swap, so I’ve been putting scoops of it into my oatmeal every day for an added dose of fiber and other goodness. I’ve also been using the ChiaCharger nut butters that I purchased. Once I try all of the flavors that came in my box, I’ll let you know what I think 😉

After I eat a lot of fatty foods or a ton of meat, I get a serious craving for vegetables for a week. These are the times I could live on a nearly-vegetarian lifestyle for a week or so and be totally okay with it. Otherwise, I love my meat.

To nab my craving, I purchased some brussell sprouts, cherry tomatoes, and a zucchini to bake with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and red pepper flakes. It sounded really good at the time, but I don’t think I cooked it quite right. It was good, but not amazing like I was expecting 😦

I think I added too much balsamic and olive oil, so it had a hard time getting the crisp outsides I was looking for.

Oh well, at least they’re edible. I packed up a large helping along with some Near East couscous and grilled chicken breast for lunch today.

Half Marathon Training

I’ll be headed to the gym tonight as soon as I get home to whip out the 4 miles on my training plan before getting cleaned up to head to happy hour at Brio to see some friends who are back to visit. It should be a fun night, and tomorrow will be Friday. Hooray!

Question of the Day: What are some funny signs or advertisements you’ve seen lately?

  1. The same thing used to happen to me when I roasted my veggies. I cut back on the oil and they started to come out great! It also helps a lot if all the veggies touch the surface of the baking sheet.
