Back to Reality

I hope that everyone had a great weekend! I’m finally back in my own apartment and getting resettled before entering the reality of work life. At least it’s a short week.

If you’ve been offline for the long weekend, you can recap the latter half of last week on this post. As for the rest of my weekend, quite frankly, it was rather uneventful but absolutely wonderful. First off, I got to spend a lot of time with this guy:

My mom has had Mochi for the past month because she missed having him around. She’s definitely plumped him up a bit since “he looks so sad when we’re eating”. [Note to self: If I ever decide to have children, no summers at grandma’s place because I’ll have obese kids.]

I miss my fluff monster, but it’s been nice not having him around because I know he gets a lot more attention (and food) being with my mom. I’ll be picking him back up after New Years.

My sister and I spent a majority of Saturday helping my mom prepare dinner and watching movies. We were both a bit sore from our run on Friday to want to do another run. We were supposed to cover 4 miles, but the trail had SO MUCH snow that we cut it down to 3.5. It felt like we were running on sand, so we ended up sweating like crazy and being completely pooped. Check it out:

2So, instead of working out, we rented Crazy Stupid Love and Kung Fu Panda 2, both of which were good. I was so hungry by the time we ate that I forgot to take pictures of the food we helped make. You’ll probably be seeing the leftovers pop up on my blog throughout the week though 😛

I was hoping to make it back home in time to get in my long run before I had to pick up my friend for dinner and to take her to the airport, but time just wasn’t working out. No big deal, I’ll get back on track tomorrow, and I didn’t completely derail my workouts this past weekend.

We headed to La Sandia in the Stapleton area for happy hour since it’s a short distance from the airport. [photo from website]

We started off with chips and salsa + guacamole.

Plus a sangria for both of us.

We also got a combination of their chicken and pork tacos to share.

As well as their mini chimichangas with chile verde.

We were both stuffed! The salsa has a bit of a smoky, chipotle flavor to it. The guacamole and chimichangas were delicious, but the tacos were lacking a bit in the flavor department and got soggy very quickly. The overall bill only came out to around $30 with the drinks, so not a bad deal for so much food.

Now I’ve got to get myself all unsettled and cleaned up for the week. I can’t believe next weekend is already New Years Eve! I don’t have solid plans aside from dinner…gotta get on the ball.

Question of the Day: Do you have New Years Eve plans yet?

  1. I went to the La Sandia at Park Meadows and really liked the guacamole too. I like how it was made fresh at your table.

My new years plans is going to Miami! My friend bought me a ticket to a place called the Blue Martini and there is an open bar from 8 till 11 with a champagne toast. I’m excited to try this place out since the last time I did not go out in South Beach.

  2. hahhaaha nothing like an Asian mom to ensure her kids (or pets) fatten up!! Right? It’s funny because that’s how they show love and care! And crazy enough…I like to feed people too, lol.

And the snow looks beautiful!! Although socal’s weather is really on the warm side, the snow makes me wanna get away somewhere cold. And your doggie is so cute! Have a wonderful rest of the day~
ps: I never have plans ahead of time, not even new years.

    • So true! I actually like to fatten people up too, but not my dog. I want him to live a glorious non-obese life hahaha. I’m trying to learn to be okay with not having concrete plans because it slightly stresses me out 😛

  3. Haha, I love your statement about not sending your future kids to your mom’s house because they would be obese. I feel the same way. My mom would probably feed my future kids with too much food too.

The snow look lovely! We didn’t have any snow this year on Christmas. It only rained. 😦
I already made new years eve plans with my boyfriend, but nothing is set in stone yet. I can’t wait though because no matter what, I know we both will have a great time. 🙂

    • I’ve heard! The snow in the mountains is actually pretty “crappy” right now. I put that in quotes because people from the East are in love with it right now compared to what’s (not) on the slopes over there.
