Drumroll Please

As much as I try to pretend that today is Sunday, having a Monday off of work never feels quite as relaxing as a Friday or normal weekend day.

I woke up bright and early to make myself a two-egg, cheese, and jelly bagelwich before taking Mochi to the groomers.

It’s been awhile since he’s gone, and he was starting to look kind of homeless.

He absolutely HATES being bathed and groomed, but beauty comes at a price, and he has to suck it up if he wants me to allow him to sleep on the bed.

While he was getting cleaned up, I headed to the gym to try to make it to a BodyPump class. Well that was a total failure because the list and the waiting list were both completely full thanks to the holiday. I decided it was a sign for me to take the rest day I had planned in my schedule and came back home to make some blog changes. Notice the difference? 😉

Anyway, last week, Ashley from AlmostVegGirlie passed along a fun food award, called the Lactose Free Lizzie Food Award.

So, in honor of the Golden Globes that I did not care to watch, here are my food awards.

Best Breakfast

– Overnight Oats
Egg Sandwich
– Hot Oatmeal w/Almond Butter

I had to go with the egg sandwich. I rarely get up early enough to make it, so it’s a real treat when I do. Plus, how delicious did the one I posted above look?

Best Nut Butter

– ChiaCharger
– Peanut Butter
Justin’s Almond Butter

I do not like peanut butter unless it’s on a bagel with bananas before a long run, so almond butter all the way for me. The ChiaCharger is good, but still has peanut butter in most of them…meh.

Tastiest & Healthiest Fast Lunch Options

Green Fine Salad Co.
– Chipotle
– Cooks Fresh Market

yum

Oh Green Fine, you so fine. You so fine, you blow my mind! What can I say? Their salads are the shit.

Best Cocktails in Denver

Linger
– ChoLon Asian Bistro
– Japoix

I love all of these places dearly, but I absolutely loved all of the drinks I had at Linger. The bar area had a great vibe, the bartenders were great, and the service was top notch. Their food…not so much.

Best Comfort Food

– Grilled Cheese w/Tomato Soup
Mom’s Cooking
– Beef Stew

Okay, this one was definitely not fair, but nobody can ever compare to mama.

That concludes my food awards for today. I’m going to pass this along to Thao @Snapshots of Happiness, Kim @Eat, Live, and Blog, and Michelle @Better with Berries. Have fun!

On a final note: I’m SOOOOOO excited!! Last night, I registered for the Blend Retreat being held in Boulder, CO. It’s going to be a 3-day blogger (and non-blogger) event with fitness classes, meals, and lots of good times, so I can’t wait to meet some of my favorite bloggers from across the country and even here in Colorado.

Question of the Day: Have you ever had the chance to meet up with any bloggers?

  1. I’ve never met a blogger. Lol. But I hope to someday. I’m sure we all share like some common bonds, right? Haha. I totally agree about Mondays off.. but I still wish I would’ve had today off. In the office… lol

  2. First of all, I LOVE the new blog look! That new header is very classy 🙂
Ahh, thank you for passing on the food awards! I am excited to try it – now I know what I am posting about tomorrow!

You will have so much fun at the Blend retreat! I’m kind of new to reading healthy living blogs, but I’ve heard it mentioned a lot and it seems like a great time. I’ve never met another blogger (unless you include my sister who writes a blog, haha), but maybe someday when I’ve been doing it longer (and have more money!) I’ll be able to go to a blogger retreat.

  3. I have never met any bloggers. I read a bunch of blogs, but can’t seem to find any bloggers from Nevada. 😦 Hopefully I will meet some bloggers someday.

I agree Mondays off never seem like a Friday or regular weekend.

The retreat sounds fun. Hope you have a great week. 🙂

  4. Love your new blog look!

Love the award. It looks like so much fun! I can’t wait to do it now. Thanks for tagging me. 🙂

I never make egg sandwich in the morning either since making a toast is so much quicker, but I can see why you vote for it. I would too because it looks amazing and I love eggs.

  5. I agree with you on the AB vs. PB debate! Most people seem to prefer peanut butter but it just doesn’t compare to almond butter!

The retreat looks so fun, and not too far from me, but sadly it’s in the middle of finals time so I don’t think I’ll be able to go.
